Our Story
A place where different talents shine together
In Sri Lanka, most young women who are deaf or have developmental differences never find lasting work. We saw something else: a group of graduates from a vocational beauty course, full of talent, with nowhere to practice it.
So we built a salon. Six nailists aged 18 to 29 trained together for 270 hours, guided by a Japanese nail artist and a curriculum from the Japan Nailist Association. Along the way we learned numbers, clocks, and how to read a room — because everyone's starting point is different.
The name Thusare comes from the Ainu word for “to heal.” Every guest here is cared for by a team where each person brings her own strength — and together, they light up.
